While staying in Sedona, why not go see the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is only 108 miles (about a 2 hour drive) away and is an easy day trip! We can give you directions that will take you through beautiful Oak Creek Canyon and you will come back a different way with afternoon views of the Painted Desert. A day trip on the South Rim of the park can afford pleasant walks with spectacular vistas and fascinating points of interest.
Canyon View Information Plaza:
Stop at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center to receive information on the park, or to enjoy the view from Mather point.
Yavapai Observation Station:
Catch spectacular views of the canyon from large observation windows or outside viewpoints. Displays inside explain the geology of the park.
Desert View Drive:
Tracing the South Rim for 23 miles between the Village and Desert View the Desert View Drive features striking canyon vistas, Tusayan Ruin and spectacular views from the Watchtower of the Painted Desert, the Colorado River, the San Francisco Peaks and the Vermilion Cliffs.
Hermit Toad and Rim Trail:
Enjoy this 16 mile round trip by convenient shuttle or on foot along the Rim Trail. The route includes eight main viewpoints along Hermit Road.
Hiking:
Even in a day, you can still hike a short way into the canyon along the Bright Angel or South Kaibab trails.
Grand Canyon IMAX Theater:
The National Geographic Theater presents "Grand Canyon: Discovery & Adventure". This is a 34 minute film on a seven story screen that takes you on a trip through time. Viewers will discover a Grand Canyon that would take a lifetime to experience.
